Info and Brochure Images Check the link below for the images and I quoted the text for the forum post. Has some pretty interesting info. http://forums.modojo.com/showthread.php?t=130916 Quote:
There is no word on an official launch date, but we were told to look at history and try to figure it out for ourselves. I personally think that MS likes to launch everything major for the Xbox on November 9th or 15th, so that's the dates I'm looking at. There is also no official word on the number of consoles that will be available at launch. Basically they're going to put as many on the market as they possibly can.
Backwards Compatibility: I talked about this in the other big thread, but just to put it all in one place, here goes. The easy answer to this is yes, it will be. Out of the box at launch, not every single title, but most of the ones that most people will want to play. People with more esoteric tastes may have to wait a little while longer, but they will get to your favorite game eventually.
The bonus remote control included in the Xbox 360 package will be for a limited time only and will only control the Xbox 360 itself, unlike the separately available universal remote accessory. This bonus remote will not be backlit, nor will it have a number pad. It will however enable your Media Center extender capabilities, so if you have an MCE PC, you're good to go.
I'm not sure if any of the sheets I posted as pics mentions this, but, the Xbox 360 bundle will have a really cool silver trim that's NOT on the Xbox 360 Core system console.
As far as Xbox Live is concerned, everyone will have the Silver level, which is pretty much everything but being able to play games online. Those of you who subscribe to Xbox Live now, your accounts will automatically convert to Gold subscriptions. You will also be able to play your live account on either your Xbox v1 or your Xbox 360, BUT, not both at the same time (unless you purchase two accounts).
The HDD is no longer as necessary as it once was for the Xbox v1 console. The sheer power of the Xbox 360 means that it does not need all the storage that the HDD enabled for the v1 console. It will still be useful for storing media and custom soundtracks, and I do believe that some games will require it, but you can always add it on if you only buy the Core system. Also, you can take your detachable HDD to a friend's Xbox 360 and attach it to their system and use your saved info (which I think is really cool).
Also, some of you may not be aware, the but interactive kiosks in the store will have functionality that allows you to bring your memory card and download content from the kiosk and take it back to your Xbox 360.
MS will own the exclusive rights to the wireless controller until December 2007, no third party wireless controllers will be available until then, only wired controllers.
Finally, MS has stated that, at least first party titles will priced in parity with current generation games. Meaning, that current major titles retail for $49.99, the same will be true for Xbox 360 games. Bargain titles sell for $29.99 or less, the same will be true for the Xbox 360 titles. Third party devs can set their own prices for their games, but as I said earlier, I think they would be foolish to charge more than what MS will charge for its own titles.
I can't think of anything else at the moment, if you have any questions, ask and I'll answer as best as possible.
