Another good looking action rpg Elveon RPG type: Real-time combat Exclusive? No (next-gen systems) Release Date: Summer 2007
Due in summer 2007, this action RPG by Slovakian developer 10Tacle studios promises a deep combat system and lush world of high fantasy. From the screens and video available, it seems to be going for the same type of fictional setting as Oblivion and Two Worlds, but its combat system seems poised to set it apart. Instead of sticking to full-body collision physics, Elveon will incorporate their own impact modeling. This means when two characters are squaring off, the weapons can actually hit each other, not just a character model. Swords, daggers, spears, and ranged weapons round out the various types of death-dealing instruments. Picking which weapon works in specific situations requires careful decision making, as each weapon will have tactical advantages in some fights while being less than ideal in others. Being constructed with the Unreal Engine 3.0, the game looks pretty good so far, with environments riddled with ruined stone columns, swaying trees, grass, and other areas of more complicated, sophisticated architecture. Like with Two Worlds, Elveon is going to include a multiplayer component, though the exact nature of it has yet to be announced. When we last spoke with 10Tacle, they did mention they were looking to exploit PC and Xbox 360 connectivity, as well as preparing a number of Marketplace downloads. |
