If you are a big fan of the Tony Hawk games, buy it. Otherwise I would say rent it. There are a lot of other games out there that are more worth the price like Gears, COD3, etc...

Well, I'm a huge fan of Tony Hawk, I own them all. Unfortunately, I haven't played it as of yet and can't give an opinion to anyone isn't a hardcore fan...cause, obviously, fans are going to buy it, as will I when I get the money/chance.

I did the preview for this game, but it wasn't a hands-on. So I really want this game so I can get a review up. I might try to pull one over on the wife and see about getting it...but I doubt it.

I just saw an electric playground exclusive and you know what... I love the fretures the only thing I want to see back is the THUG one original storyline that would be kick ass and you know what I like, I really like the innovation of the flip trick control and only the true skate enthusists can apperachate it. I am not really sure if I shud buy this still but I am one step closer from that.

Wow Tony Hawk 8 huh? I haven't played this series since Tony Hawk 2. The first one was original and essentially the first of its kind, but it got stale after that for me. Whatever though, to each man his own.

I've played the game, though not extensively. One thing that is really odd with the game are the physics, or more to the point, the physics of the character when they fall off the board. If you get some good speed and bail, there are times when you're character will go flying across the level and won't stop until you hit something. Then, they bounce around with the dopey "rag doll" effect that everybody thinks is so cool these days. It's a small thing, but it's extremely noticeable. The level design isn't all that impressive (though it hasn't been in years, so what else is new?).

As for storyline, I didn't pay any attention to it since Story mode is the worst thing EVER to happen to the Tony Hawk series. The 4th installment is when the series started going south (by them taking out the two minute times) and the THUG series was just pure garbage. How anyone can actually like that idiotic crap is beyond me. It was nice to see a return to Classic mode with THUG 2 and American Wasteland, but both games sucked when it came down to it. The only Hawk game worth a spit since part 3 has been Sk8land on the DS. But, I digress.....

Just from the early reviews, it doesn't seem that Project 8 isn't changing any of that for the better. Though if anyone actually liked THUG, they may be just fine with this new "offering".

I actually liked having a story mode in the first THUG, but that was enough. THUG2 was a lot of the same and I didn't even play but 3 hours of it. Being a skater myself, that may be why I liked the story mode...who knows. So, for me, the only real buster is the character physics you mentioned. I'm not hip on the idea of spending ten minutes getting back to where I was skating just because I bailed, that would drive me nuts. I think I'll just Gamefly this one.
