Movie playback

I use my Xbox for movies, and was wondering for an HDTV what resolution it plays back in (i.e. like a progressive scan dvd resolution or something different)

Does the xbox playback in 480p or 480i?

The Xbox is capable of 480p, 720p, and 1080i. But, you only want to set it to what your HDTV is capable of dispalying.

Thats only for games! Movies 480i. The 360 can play movies in 480p, until HDdvd add on comes out(or blue- ray mabey)

No, movies can play in 480p and i. They just can't play in 720 or 1080.

Your link doesn't work so you prove nothing! Muwahahaha! Seriously, my manual for my xbox (which is only 4 months old) says it can run progressive 480 for movies and up to 720 for "certain" games. Either it's for the newer boxes, or it's a typo.

Thats not my link! Anyway that interesting that your manual says that.....hmmmm.My xbox doesn't have it. And one of the selling points of the 360, was that it did have it,compared to the xbox.........hmmmm very interesting indeed!

just did a search for the hell of it, and just as I thought, no 480p movie playback for xbox. Must be a typo.....weird!
