If only it was as simple as just covering DVDs in the protein...

I'm inclined to believe in this if for no reason other than this guy's name has as many letters as the alphabet has in it.

I'll believe it when I see it... besides, I'm scared my kids will lick all the information right off the disc! Bug juice anyone?!? hehehe

It was already obsolete when Inphase introduced its prototype hologram disk awhile back, which at its early stage can hold 400 gigabytes of info and retrieve at speeds of roughly 30 megabytes per second. So add that to the bug juice disc,......yes obsolete!

I think the whole hard drives becoming obsolete statement was a bit ridiculous; I can't imagine getting rid of HD's altogether.

This'll certainly be an interesting technology, but I'm sure it's going to be really expensive.

Plus, it takes an awfully long time for equipment and people to "catch-up" to the new technology. No worries, yet.

Actually, HDs are becoming obsolete. Soon all information will be stored on Flash memory rather than a moving part like an HDD.

I didn't mean an HDD so much as I meant that I can't imagine relying solely on removable media like an actual disc.

I'm still not sure what you mean, dude, because that's exactly where technology is going. All media is going to be removable and no longer a "moving" part. It's only a matter of time before you never see a conventional disk storage medium again (like ATA, Fibre Channel, SATA, etc.).
