Registration is broken.

My friend has been trying to register for a while, and every time he fills out the form, hits register, and it returns him to the form with his password field blank. I've even tried registering for him, and it does not work. Can someone fix this?

This should now be fixed. I am pretty sure it was displaying an error, however the error was white text on a white background. Let me know if you are still noticing any problems.

Also, do we now have an authentication process (like, enter some code text) so that we have less spammers? I understand that that can only fix some of the problems, but at least it's something...

For some reason whenever I enable it, it isn't showing up on the page and then gives an error because it isn't being entered. For now I'm going to leave it off, but if I see any spammers at all I will fix it.
