Just a suggestion: I know you guys have a lot of stuff to do and all, but instead of just posting a little one (maybe two) sentence blurb and a link to the news, why not just rewrite it so we don't have to go to a bunch of different sites to get the info? I mean, if people are going to come to the forums for news, shouldn't you have it in the body of the thread you're making and not just a link to a bunch of other sites? Or even just an excerpt of what it's all about so we can get the scoop?

I agree here. It's just seems like bad form to do a news thread and then when you click on it, having to click on a link to get what you came for in the first place. For some person on a forum posting that, it's an inconvenience (usually followed by a couple people saying "why don't you post what the link says?!?!? WTF?!?!?"). But a news posting originating from the site itself?

Keep in mind that's only the way it's done on the forum. A bot goes out and finds relevant news. For the MAIN PAGE, all our news is complete and done by the staff!

Try hitting the "News" tab at the top of your screen.

Lazy people...

Maybe if it didn't take over 5 minutes for the main pages to load on dialup, I WOULD go to them once in a while.

Yeah, but if people go to the forums to read the news, then shouldn't it have a write up and not just a vague sentence and link to Gamespot? Plus, there's no Nintendo Core so how's everyone supposed to get their Nintendo news except through the forums, eh? If you have the staff writing it all up anyway for the main page, then why are you posting a link back to Gamespot? You're just sending all your forum goers there when you should be linking it back to VGCore's main page.

I agree with Elf and Danzego. I tend to stay away from the news forums and get my videogaming news elsewhere because it's a hassle to have to click a bunch of different links.

I'd also like to add and request that when a poster makes a regular thread referencing news from a different site that they don't write a couple of meager sentences followed by a link to the page with that news. Lets not be lazy and put the actual body or gist of the page in the original post. This way the forums won't just be a gathering place for people to post links.

Lee, help me out here.

I never said I don't agree, because I've brought this point up, but the fact of the matter is that this is Xbox Core and Playstation Core, respectively. Nintendo news isn't going to be a priority until Nintendo Core is up. That's just a side note, by the way. The main reason it's this way is simply due to the amount of work involved. But at a minimum, I think we should have the main page news automatically posted to the forums. But this is also a ton of work. Our priorty right now is more content (exclusive articles, more reviews, previews, etc.) and getting other goodness online (like blogs).

In a nutshell, Lee is our only coder/webmaster and he's got his hands full.

So you have to be a coder/webmaster to post news to the forums? I though just anyone could do it (on staff that is).

Anyway, at least maybe link the news back to the main page or something other than Gamespot or wherever you get your news from. But still, when you guys get the time and the means, having a write up and not just a little sentence with a link would almost definitely get more posts on the news forums. And the more people you get talking the more people will come to join the site to join in the convo. The more people that join up to start posting, the bigger this place gets and the more chances you guys have of making it big, you know?
