PSP not preloaded with 2.0 PSP not preloaded with 2.0
It has emerged that PSPs shipped in Europe are not preloaded with firmware 2.0, but instead provide a UMD demo disc that you can use to update your firmware.* This would have little consequence if Yoshihiro from Team Wab was not planning to release a downgrader for PSP firmware 1.51 and 1.52 on September 1st.* This means that, providing the downgrader works, everyone who has bought a European PSP will be able to make the choice - the functionality of 2.0, or the homebrew of 1.50.* Whether all PSPs will be like this remains to be seen.
TheGamesCompany.co.uk are reporting that inside the PSP package comes a note from Sony:
"Important! Before using your PSP (PlayStation Potable) system for the first time, insert the Demo Disc included in this pack and switch on your PSP for the latest system for the latest system software update. It is only necessary to insert the disc once."
This is still unconfirmed, but it's definately some juicy info. http://www.PSPHome.com/index.php?do=viewarticle&id=334 |
