Sony Computer Entertainment is developing a pan-European online hub to support the long-awaited launch of its new PlayStation Portable (PSP) games console next month.The multimedia Web network will act as the main point of contact for PSP enthusiasts in over 100 European countries including the UK, Spain and Germany.Sony's digital strategy will be central to the overall PSP concept, providing users around the world with an online community where they can enhance their portable gaming experience.After registering their console at yourpsp.com, users will be given a password allowing them to download a range of exclusive games, music, video and photographic content intended to demonstrate the full potential of their PSP.The main focus of the online hub will be to provide users with regular access to special add-ons that will enable them to enhance the size and playability of selected PSP games.Sony is also working with a number of major film companies, including Buena Vista International, Twentieth Century Fox and Universal Studios, to offer PSP users access to promotional movie trailers, short films and specially selected viral clips.Designed by full service digital agency Framfab, the Web network will be updated on a regular basis and all downloads will be available free of charge in an attempt to showcase the*varied functionality*of the PSP."We want people to realise that the Web is the place you go when you have a PSP," said Stephane Hareau, senior brand manager for PSP Europe. "It's a crucial part of the whole experience."Sony plans to promote the YourPSP Web site in conjunction with the games console as part of an international cross-media campaign.
