Considering the launch date, I would assume as early as next month.

Yeah, I'd say August is very likely; stores began taking pre-orders for 360 last summer I believe, so get ready to plop down a chunk of change soon.

haha ya i think im ready, but if i remember correctly all the pre-orders for XBOX 360 on gamestop were package deals, they come w/ like 3 games and an extra controller, and some were packaged with plasma TV's etc. I dont remember seeing just the console, but maybe I looked a while after the preorders were available and all the console-only pre-orders were sold out, anyone know if JUST the console will be available? Because with 3 games and a controller you can look to spend $800ish

$800 is lowballing it, I remember most pre-orders from EB/Gamestop running you past $1000 for the 360.

I don't know if there will be any places that offer just the system; my best guess is that you would want to look online for that sort of thing.

For now, until we get defenite word (so we aren't publishing the wrong info) as to when and what offers there are for pre-orders, I would do like Chris (insert trademark, lol) said and check the ol' www...

Actually, if you remember the XBox 360 debacle/launch, you would already know the LAST PLACE you would want to look around for preorders is online if you're looking to avoid bundles.

Hit the game stores periodically and see what they'll have planned and when they're opening preorders in the first place.

Elf and I just did our Wii preorder the other day at Gamecrazy and they're not doing bundles so long as you do the preorder (and some spiel about how all they ask is that you preorder anything you plan on getting at launch....as if you wouldn't do that to begin with). Maybe they've already started doing PS3 orders, too. Go in, ask, and find out.

That's a good point, Dan. Cruising to your local store is probably the best bet. I think I"ll be pre-ordering the Wii within the week..
