Default BLIZZARD on Board?

In Blizzards most recent newsletter, the company asked its readers whether they are interested in buying the strategy game Diablo II on the Nintendo DS (and Sony PSP) if it would feature wireless multiplaying options. Right after this question, Blizzard continued with asking whether the readers would buy Realtime Strategy game StarCraft on the Nintendo DS (sorry, no PSP here).

Blizzard has not yet announced any plans for development for the Nintendo DS (nor for the Sony PSP), but is showing interest in the handheld business once more after its Lost Vikings and Rock 'n' Roll Racing on the GameBoy Advance.

ah, I think they need to start developing Starcraft 2 for the PC. I think they could make some great money with that. I say forget about the handhelds and make a Starcraft 2 for pc

Nice! SC for DS would be amazing. I just got back into Starcraft yesterday, but yeah, they need to develop SC 2 soon.

Although if SC2 turns out to be a bust, the strong and hard earned image of SC that Blizzard created will shatter. I'm afraid of SC2 in a way because it has to be at the level of, if not above the level of SC. Otherwise we'll all be disappointed.

I agree. There is defenitely a chance of grinding SC to dust when applied to a handheld. If it's a rush job with limited ingenuity, well, bye bye Star Craft's good name. Blizzard will have to do and excellent job of (porting?) developing a handheld version.

Well actually, I was talking about SC2 for the PC, but you're right about the handheld thing. Although I don't think they can really mess up because all they have to do is port over the entire game onto the DS. The only downside would be the lack of hotkeys, so you would have to actually click the actions on the bottom right instead of just using the keyboard (which would make everything a lot slower, believe you me). I would also want them to have a complete SC, which includes all the Brood War missions and units.

Wouldn't the touch screen be a good use for the hot keys? Or better yet, the regular buttons can be custom hot keys and the touch screen for normal control/navigation. Would that not work well for the port? I don't know, I've only seen SC played, I've never actually done so myself.

I sorta doubt they'll PORT the original SC... they'll probably make a DS version. (At least, that's what I'm hoping!)

I don't think they'll port it either.
