NiGHTS Coming to the Wii!!

For those of you who remember NiGHTS into Dreams on SEGA Saturn, SEGA is finally making a sequel on the Nintendo Wii. When NiGHTS came out some 11 years ago, it came with an analog controller, which was the new and hot control scheme back then. Now SEGA will be utilizing the revolutionary controller of the Wii to bring back a very great franchise.

So, anyone stoked or do you need to look up "Sega Saturn" on the internet to figure out what it is?

Of course. NiGHTS into Dreams was one of the best on-track, flying platformers ever. Okay, it was the only one but damn it if its return isn't one of the best things to happen to gaming in a very long time. What's more, it looks great so far.

NiGHTS? Really? Yeah, although the Saturn was never that popular (relative to its competition), NiGHTS was pretty much to it what Sonic the Hedgehog was to the Genesis. The only difference is that NiGHTS didn't propel Sega to the top of the industry when it came out. Rather, it just helped the Saturn's rapid fall into obscurity a little less rapid. It came out in late '96 around the same time that the PlayStation was picking up steam with Crash Bandicoot and Tomb Raider. Plus, the Nintendo 64 had just launched and was the next-biggest thing behind Tickle-Me-Elmo. Super Mario 64 was playable in just about every store (that sold video games) at the time but NiGHTS was frequently displayed, too.

I kind of wish Sega released a DC sequel to NiGHTS. But I'm glad they're at least doing it now. Hopefully it'll be as awesome as the original.

Yeah. "Hope" being the key word. Sonic Team just aint what they used to be.

Yeah....no. Sonic Team has let me down lately. They're getting a chance to redeem themselves with NiGHTS.

And Rob, you never played it because I didn't have it on my Saturn. I played it at the store when I worked at Game Dude.
