Default Wireless Wii Sensor Bar

Not sure why you would want this since the sensor bar never moves and already comes with a very long cable, but check this out if you are interested:

Supposedly because it's wireless. Everything has to be wireless these days... I know I would rather have a receiver that detects motion sensing to be wired, though. There has to be at least some lag time and I don't want that interfering with my game play! Wired for me.

Actually (and I just found this out within the last couple of weeks, myself), the sensor bar doesn't detect motion at all. As a matter of fact, it does nothing but sit there and shine lights at the Wii remote.

What the sensor bar does is it emits IR lights that the Wii remote itself sees and uses to triangulate its own position in space. If you look around on YouTube, you can find videos where people have used candles (which actually emit IR rays) on top of the TV or shining TV remotes at the controller in place of the sensor bar.

Furthermore, if you turn off all of the lights and look very closely at the Wii sensor bar, you can see very, very dim red lights inside of it on both sides (it looks like about 5 on each end, to me). So obviously, the only purpose of the sensor bar being plugged into the system is to provide power to the lights and the Wii remote does the rest. All a wireless sensor bar does is use batteries instead of plugging into the system, but I don't really see the point since it's not like the standard sensor bar cord is all that short or anything like that.

So yeah.....now you know.

And knowing is half the battle...

Thanks for that tid-bit of info. I had no idea.

BE WARNED-DO NOT ORDER FROM WIRELESSSENSORBAR.COM !!
I paid for a wireless sensor bar by e-cheque on the 12 December. The payment cleared on the 22nd December. I received nothing from the seller, so I sent an email on the 30th December asking for confirmation of the order and a dispatch date. I had no response to this so I sent a further email on the 5th January, again asking for order confirmation and delivery status. I finally received a response on the 10th January, apologising and saying there had been an oversight and saying the sensor bar would be dispatched by the 12th January at the latest. I replied straight away, thanking them for the information. To my surprise I had a further email on the 18th January explaining again why the sensor bar had not shipped previously and asking me to confirm whether or not it had been arrived and they would send one ship one as quickly as possible. This clearly implied they had not dispatched by the 12th Jan as had previously been promised. I replied the same day confirming I had not received the item and asking for dispatch ASAP.
As I received no response to this, I sent another email on the 24th Jan, asking them to confirm the position by return. I have received no response to this either. I sent further emails on the 28th January and the 1st and 9th February asking for delivery of the item or my money back. I have had no response to any of these.
I strongly recommend you do not order from wirelesssensorbar.com as you risk this man taking your money, not delivering the item and ignoring your correspondence, just as happened to me.
I reluctantly accept that my money is lost and wirelesssensorbar.com will not refund me or deliver the advertised product now. However, I understand that a similar product is due to be released in March by a reputable seller, with a longer battery life than advertised by these cowboys anyway, so I will wait until it is available and order from them.

dunno if anyone has noticed..but I find it kinda funny, on their official page they have "9/10 performance" -IGN
when on IGN, the overall score was 7.5
yes the performance section of the score 9.0 but it was along side "Performance
Provides the same accuracy and almost the same reach as the official Nintendo Wii sensor bar." and the "build quality" got Build Quality 4.0 and the value for money got 6.0

they also have "It works great..." as a quote from Tycho (from PA)

I dunno....I just find it kinda funny

I find it useless in my case. I suppose it's good for people who have their consoles far away from their TV...
