Re: Wii light gun??? The deal with the lightgun is Nintendo was showing a possible lightgun shell that you would slide the Wii remote into to use (there are even slots on the side of the remote that would act as rails). However, considering the way the Wii remote works with the sensor bar, even if they do remake any old lightgun games, it's not going to be the same, unless they build a whole new lightgun that works like the standard ones we've always had for other systems.
Ya see, the Wii remote doesn't work like lightguns, which essentially send pictures of the screen to the console (and registers a hit if it "sees" a duck, or whatever). The sensor bar reads where the remote is pointing in relation to the bar itself, not the TV. That's why all games that you point at the screen show a cursor- so you know where on the screen you're actually pointing (since it's not in relation to where you're actually pointing at the screen, as I mentioned). Then there's the games like ExciteTruck and Tony Hawk that work through the tilt gyroscopic tilt sensors inside the controller (since holding the controller sideways, it can't read where the controller is at or what it's doing).
So the quick answer is it's possible, but not in the way you're used to doing it. Unless you want to play Duck Hunt or something with a cursor on the screen, you won't be doing it until someone builds a formal lightgun for the Wii. |
