I would just save up for the Wii. If you buy the GameCube, there is going to be like nothing else significant coming out for it, everything else will be coming out on the Wii.

According to Nintendo, the Cube version isn't in widescreen or 480p. Only the Wii version is.

Also, according to a review for the game that I recently read, the difference between using component cables and progressive scan on the Wii version is night and day compared to the standard AV cables that come with it. In other words, component cables will naturally make some difference for the Cube version between a Cube with AV and one with component (mind you, that entails buying a $40 cable for the Cube), but the Wii version will still look better.

Now it's just a matter if the 130 bucks (system, component cable, and Zelda game....oh, and memory card, if necessary) is worth it to you for playing Zelda just on the Cube or not.

Well if all the wii games are able to use the regular controller, without sacrificing any of the game play, then maybe I'll get one!
on the other hand buying the game cube for $40,just so I can play one game, is not a big deal to me! plus I can pretty much get any game I want for free nowadays, but we won't talk about that!

It really depends on what you're looking for in gaming. People getting a Wii shouldn't expect to get the same sort of gaming experience they've been accustomed to. That's not a bad thing.

Personally, I'd get a GC before a Wii only because the whole motion-remote isn't much of an appeal to me. Unless Nintendo can get some more third-party support and bring some REAL action games to the table, it'll always be a secondary option to the PS3.

Do you mean being able to play Wii games with a Gamecube controller? Because that's not going to happen. Wii games use the Wii controller and Gamecube games on the Wii use a Gamecube controller (I was also hoping that Cube games could be played with the classic controller, but unfortunately, that's not the case).

I was talking about this

I was wondering if all of the wii games will support this controller. If they do, will any of the game play or content be lost, do to the game mechanics when using the wii remote?!?

That's the Classic Controller and that only supports Virtual Console games and POSSIBLY the odd game here and there (like perhaps the new Smash Bros., which we know won't use the Wii controller according to the developers, but they haven't said if it's only Gamecube controllers or also the Classic Controller).

Using that for Wii games would defeat the purpose of what they're trying to do with the machine and having to have normal controller functionality in mind when making Wii games would limit the games to standard control schemes and tacked on motion sensitivity.

Seems to me what you need is a PS3 or 360.

or a cube, which was the point of this hole thread! I was hoping that all of the wii games supported that controller. In others words I want Zelda, but I don't think I want the weewee?

personally Im getting both a Wii and Zelda for the Wii....but if the Wii isnt your cup of tea getting a gamecube right now isnt such a bad idea...you can get them dirt cheap along with some brilliant games the gc had which are going very cheaply in alot of places...personally I favor the Wii as Im heavly into Nintendo..but like I said..if the whole wii controller isnt to your liking...then getting Zelda for the GC sounds like a good place about now and picking up other games like Metriod, Sunshine, Wind Waker, Mario Kart, F-Zero, etc etc
