How are you spending your Wii launch night?

Since I couldn't secure a preorder at Ebgames or Gamestop, I'm going to get my Wii at my local Target. I plan on going there on the evening of the 18th and camping out until the store opens at 8. I'll have a few friends and we'll have our DS's, so it should be a blast.

I had the option of going into NYC to NintendoWorld or Toys R' Us in Times Square for the launch festivities, but I'd rather chill with a few friends and secure my Wii for the 19th rather than go out into the city and not get one.

What are you doing for the launch?

I'm still deciding whether to spend Wii launch night actually PLAYING it or not. Meaning, the Gamecrazy I have mine preordered at is doing a midnight launch, so I can have it that night. However, I really, really enjoy the anticipation leading up to and on system release mornings. BUT then again, I'm in school, so I have less time to play, so getting it early will give me more time with the system than waiting another 10 hours to get it. On that same note, the store doesn't open until ten the next morning, which is a bit long (I like when the store opens early, like 8, instead of having to wait THAT long sitting there knowing I could already be playing it).

*exhales* Whew.

With all of THAT said, I think what it's going to come down to is component cable availability. Nintendo initially claimed they would be sold online only, meaning I would have to order them on launch day and play on lame AV cables instead. But now, Perrin Kaplin (Nintendo's president of marketing or some crap) says they WILL be in stores on launch day.

If they have them ready to go on that Saturday night at Gamecrazy, or I can track them down (first or third party version, doesn't matter) somewhere else beforehand, I'll probably get the system at the midnight launch. If I instead have to wait to get them at like Best Buy on Sunday morning, I'll wait to pick up the system until Sunday morning, since I'm trying to avoid playing the system at all through standard AV cables. A one night wait, I can do. If it's more than that, then I'll probably just get the system, suck it up and use the AV cables, and get the component cables when I can find them.

As you can see, there's a bit of turmoil I've been having over this situation.

im gonna be outside of wal mart to get my wii and I am skipping skool to wait outside 4 24 hours so I get it first I booked off the day to get it walmart is first come first serve so I am waiting 4 mine I cant wait

I don't know how many they managed to go through tonight since they went up for sale only about 2 and a half to 3 hours before the order department closed for the night. Meaning that if you happen to see this on Wednesday early and want Wii component cables for Sunday, you'll definitely want to try calling. I managed to score a set and did expedited shipping (UPS Red overnight shipping, the only one that will make it by Friday), so I spent just over 40 bucks and my Wii component cables should get here Thursday or by Friday latest.

In other words, I'll be picking my Wii up and playing it on Saturday night.

Also notice that the cables will go on sale again on Sunday, but not at retail until mid-December (Gamestop is showing a December 15th shipping date).

Whatever. I'm all set and HAPPY.
