1. Super Mario Bros. -- The most perfect game ever designed
2. Super Mario 64 -- The most perfect Non-FPS 3d game ever designed.
3. Half-Life/Half-Life 2 -- The first offered something almost no games had offered: immersion. From the monorail to the moment you see the scientists going about their business. The second offered the best physics gameplay and innovative first person gameplay in years.
4. Katamari Damaci -- Simplicity == fun.
5. Counter-Strike -- As much as I dislike it's players and the game itself, the fact that you have to wait to get back into action until the next round makes players keep coming back and back. Not your normal FPS.
6. Any Post-Wolfenstien id Software game -- The first real First Person Shooters (Doom being the first major one and Quake 3 being the first Multi-Playered centered one).
7. Halo 1 & 2 -- You know...
8. Grim Fandango -- The first ever game to hit out of the ball park with dialouge, immersion, puzzles, and sheer length. Arguably the first game to use voice overs GOOD. Probably one of the best games ever created.
9. Tetris -- The most addictive game ever created. I've played personally for 3 hours straight at my record, which I'm sure is small by comparison.
10. NeverWinter Nights -- IMO, the best single player D&D based RPG ever, edging KOTOR out due to it's AWESOME multi-player support.
