Atari Jaguar was pretty ahead of its time. If there is any one lesson for console makers, it's that if you jump too far ahead technology wise, you will just fall flat. Coninsider both the Jaguar and Dreamcast which effectively killed both companies. PS3 seemed to be headed in that direction, but it probably won't. Unfamiliarity really has a weird effect on console gamers, though it may also be the price tag and how much harder it is to develop games for the certain console. It's a mystery.... |
