Yea- Dreamcast is my favorite. Its the most underrated system. I bought it day 1, I had so much fun with that system, I still have mine today and I still play it a lot.

Can you really put a modded XBox? That's kind of unfair. It's like the system standing on merits that aren't it's own (especially if emulators are one of your reasons).

Anyway, in no particular order....because I can't do that and even this list will change depending on the day of the week:

Sega Master System
Genesis
SNES
Playstation

and ummm....I don't know what takes the last spot. How about a couple of honorable mentions, instead (I know I'm overstaying my welcome...sorry!!)?

N64- It really didn't have a whole lot of notable games, not nearly enough to make my top 5 list, but it DOES have my two favorite games of all time- Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time.

Dreamcast- any system that bore PSO, Skies of Arcadia, and ESPECIALLY Jet Grind Radio (one of my all time faves) deserves a mention.

Gamecube- Tied for the most underrated system of all time along side.......Sega Master System. No, the Dreamcast doesn't deserve this title. It was just a really cool system that Sega had to ditch after two years because of the bed they made. At least the Master System lasted 3 ( ) and the Gamecube went the full five....sort of.

Nintendo DS- give it a couple years and it WILL be on my top 5 list. It just lacks the RPG's (and time) to do it now.

Finally, the PSP- if for no other reason than them bringing it to market forced Nintendo to make the DS as awesome a software platform as it has been, rather than turning it into an N64 port machine (like the GBA predominantly was for 16 bit games in the its first 3-4 years on the market).

Why buy 200$ worth of consoles and 1000$ worth a stack of games? When you can play all those kind of games... and more, on computer.

So instead i have my favorate emulators & roms.

If we were counting PC, that would easily be my top.

Let's see...

1. SNES. Come on, this is THE system.
2. Dreamcast. Ironically, of all of Sega's consoles their best was the one that killed them.
3. PS2. Tons of classic games, and easily the better of the last generation.
4. NES. I thought about putting Atari, but when I look back once I got my NES, I don't think I ever actually touched my Atari again...sad, I know.
5. Xbox 360. This one barely nudges out the Genesis, which barely nudged out the N64. I feel bad putting a newer one here, but the combination of some awesome games plus the awesomeness that is Xbox Live and the Xbox Live Marketplace/Arcade makes it hard to not put it. If some huge killer aps come out for it, I could see it making a run at my top 3, but I doubt it.

Honorable mentions: N64. If it had some more games, it would be top 5 easily. As it is, it has arguably the two greatest games of all time, but it was lacking in titles. Unlike the 360, it couldn't combat this with an awesome online feature.

Xbox. I put the 360 on above it purely based off of the fact that it has the potential to do more, and that I really like the online features with it better than Xbox 1. Plus, the only HUGE games Xbox has will be able to be played on the 360 sooner or later. (Here's hoping JSRF and Phantom Dust are in that next update).

Genesis. Hard to leave it off the list, but I was always more of an SNES guy than a Genesis guy. I do love my Sega, though.

Saturn. Underrated and killed by the PSX in the retail world. I still have probably 20-30 games for it scattered throughout boxes of random CDs. It's all about SCUD and Road Rash!


Like I said, though, if PCs counted it would easily be my favorite.

The Gibster gives them in this order:

#1. NES - So many reasons. The NES was, in fact, my first console. Sure, Crusader and I had an Atari, but it was second hand and broke immediately. And, we played it at friends houses, but it just wasn't what the NES became. There was such a plethora of different genre's and tastes that came from NES era. Face it, the NES rejuvenated the gaming world and it likewise brought me into it full steam.

#2 Saturn - I didn't have one, but my brother did. I remember playing it for the first time. I loved it. The graphics were awesome and it had some of the best hand-drawn games ever before seen on a console, not to mention how fast Sonic could go...

#3 PS2 - The amount of titles for any type of gamer is astounding. Sony themselves, are by far the worst as a customer, but man, do they know how to get support for theirselves! Legendary titles have made the scene on this. And, they know what gamers want...

#4 SNES - The follow up console for Nintendo was just as momentous. They did everything right with their next console iteration and games.

#5 GBA/DS tie - Excellent handhelds with an excellent price.
