The 38 publications voting for the Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2006 have announced this year's nominees. Now in its 10th year, these awards reward the games that will shape the future of interactive entertainment, as shown at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, CA. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 31, 2006.

The Game Critics Awards are voted on by representatives from 38 leading media outlets that cover games, including TIME, Newsweek, USA Today, IGN, GameSpy and the Official Xbox Magazine.

The committee has recognized 54 products from 20 different publishers. Gears of War leads with 5 nominations, followed by Assassin's Creed, Bioshock and Spore, which all got four nominations each.
Nintendo is the most nominated publisher with 13 nominations, followed by EA (11 nominations), Sony (10 nominations) and Microsoft Game Studios (9 nominations).
