 Last house on the Left remake
August 17, 2006 - The Last House on the Left, which was Wes Craven's 1972 directing debut, will be remade by Rogue Pictures. Craven will produce the redo along with Marianne Maddalena and Sean S. Cunningham.
Filming could commence as soon as early 2007, reports Variety. The remake will reportedly follow the same basic plot as the original film: a group of killers unwittingly take refuge in the home of people who turn out to be the parents of one of the girls the gang raped and murdered. The parents then plot their revenge.
Craven advised Variety, "I'm far enough removed from these films that the remakes are a little like having grandchildren. ... The story, about the painful side effects of revenge, is an evergreen. The headlines are full of people and nations taking revenge and getting caught up in endless cycles of violence." Variety adds that two other remakes of Craven films – Shocker and People Under the Stairs – are also in the works. |
