Yes but his is not being used in his sig here.
I like it, my advice to improve would be to do some white brushing on a layaer above the background, and set its layer mode so it blends in, this will give it some more depht, then if you want brush on top of the render with white as well but do not obscure it so miuch that is does not shows properly. I have appliead similar concept here .
