I once set my computer up in/on my desk. I had the motherboard on one shelf, the drives on another, with the HDs next to them. I had to pull out the "on / off" little switch from my anciently old tower, though. The thing worked perfectly. I only had to get a few longer cables for some stuff, but yeah, that thing was up there for, like, three or four months!
