But Chris, they'll lose much less business over changing it to M--which many people won't really care about, let alone notice--than they do if it starts another scandal like Hot Coffee did.

I don't care what ESRB does. They may rate games E, or T, or M but that's just a simple guideline of what games you might "want" to buy. It's not illegal for a 8 year old to own and play a M game. Unless it has sex in it, of course... I play M games like Diablo and i don't give crap about the "gore" in there!

Well, I do believe there are legal liabilities for you to own those games. Moreso is the fact that you cannot purchase them yourself.

And good job on the grammar, man. I'm impressed.

I don't know about that, because you have to figure that rating a game Mature as opposed to Teen can simply cut off some people from being able to purchase it, whereas negative press isn't necessarily going to deter a potention customer.

Sadly, more parents are going to buy a game rated M for their kid without ever looking at the rating than buy a game for their kids after there is a "scandal" over it.

I see your point and you might be right, but I still would believe that there would be a greater drop off in sales if the game were rated mature over teen as opposed to there being a scandal.

Oh well, agree to disagree.

That would be like buying a M rated movie for a kid without even knowing what the movie is. And, to Crusader: I say, "Nothing you do is illegal unless the goverment knows about it."
