Default Oblivion

Anyone have Oblivion for PC?

I installed it on my comp, but it is pretty sluggish at high and normal settings.

Here are the insanely high recommendations:
  • 3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
  • 1 GB System RAM
  • ATI X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card

Here are my specs:
  • 3.0 Ghz P4
  • 512 mb RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce 6600 series

I am thinking I need more ram. Do you think the ram is the problem or the gfx card?

Is the GFX a 6600 gt or just a regular 6600? If its a 6600 gt, it should be ok.
I would DEFIANTELY upgrade that ram to 1gb, its needed.

Checkout newegg for some great prices on memory, I just ordered a 512mb stick for my dad, only $33.

I have 1gb of ram, a p4 3.0ghz and a 6800 gt, and it run fine on all high.

Yeah, it's a GT.

Also, I have been shopping around for a bit and found this two great deals over at TigerDirect. I think I am going to get the 512 for $15...thats an excellent price @_@

Is your mobo designed for dual-channel DDR? I'd double-check on that and I also recommend not mixing your RAM. If you're going to buy 1GB, get another 512 of the same brand unless money is an issue. Definitely don't do something like a 512 stick with a 1GB stick.

I just spent a bunch of $ on the 360 and games, so I am not going to go all the way up to 2 GB. I will probably just get a 512mb stick.

Does it really matter if I have two different brands in there but they are the same (512mb)? Would that cause just minor performance issues or would it be a major problem?

And yeah, my mobo is dual-channel DDR, but I am not even sure what that is lol.

No, it won't be a major issue, it's just good practice because if you do have problems later, you have to figure out which brand sucks.

Ok, and make sure the memory you buy supports dual-channel.
