NiGHTS? Really? Yeah, although the Saturn was never that popular (relative to its competition), NiGHTS was pretty much to it what Sonic the Hedgehog was to the Genesis. The only difference is that NiGHTS didn't propel Sega to the top of the industry when it came out. Rather, it just helped the Saturn's rapid fall into obscurity a little less rapid. It came out in late '96 around the same time that the PlayStation was picking up steam with Crash Bandicoot and Tomb Raider. Plus, the Nintendo 64 had just launched and was the next-biggest thing behind Tickle-Me-Elmo. Super Mario 64 was playable in just about every store (that sold video games) at the time but NiGHTS was frequently displayed, too. |
